ABOUT ME - MARION HOUSE
My first memory with dogs was at the age of three, walking through the snow to the barn at the bottom of our garden with a bowl of porridge, to feed a litter of collies that my father had bred.
At the age of 13, I acquired my own dog; a Rough Colie called Shandy. From then on it was all learning about dogs. During the time I was bringing up a family, the studying continued. This time it was learning about all types of animals.
I started showing Dogs, Saanen goats, and Rabbits, winning Best in Show with a black and whit Dutch rabbit at a Breed club show for rabbits; plus doing well with the dogs and goats.
I attained an 'Ology' and many diplomas in all types of doggy matters. For two and a half years, I took courses on Nutrition, Behaviour, Breeding , Genetics, Evolution and Grooming at College; also learning about all breeds of dogs and what makes them tick. Over the years I have spent a great deal of time researching about animals.
My house is full of books on various animals:
Dogs, Cats, Horses, Sheep, Pigs, Birds, Dolphins....
ABOUT - FIVEJAYS
FIVEJAYS our kennel name, was registered with the Kennel Club in 1986 when I bred my first Rough Collie litter. One of the puppies was sent to Sweden, then he was loaned to one of the top breeders in Finland, where he became one of the leading stud dogs, siring many top collies.
In 1995, I set up FIVEJAYS as a dog training establishment, have success with two pupils in particular. Firstly there was a lady with a Border Collie who went on to take the Bitch Obedience Championship at Crufts. Then I had the pleasure of teaching a young girl with her very first dog, a Cocker Spaniel. They went on to perform creditably at Crufts.
FIVEJAYS has grown over the years to training five nights and one afternoon a week, catering for all types of dogs and their owners.
ABOUT - DOG SHOWS
In the dog show world I judge various Breeds, but specialize in the Collie breeds. I also judge obedience classes.
In 2003 Brian and I got together. We had known each other for a number of years, his Champion dog was the sire of my first Rough Collie litter. Brian's expertise was dog showing, having shown and bred Champion Rough & Smooth Collies, including a Best of Breed at Crufts. He had travelled all over the world, judging Collies and has also judged at Crufts.
